Even though I practice #yoga at home every day, it’s been months since I’ve attended a live class. I was feeling like a big spender this weekend so I went to two Bikram classes and the sweat pouring out my body felt like tears from heaven. I know you think I’m being hyperbolic but for real: TEARS FROM HEAVEN.
However, being back in a class environment shed light on some aspects of yoga classes that I love and hate. For one thing, why is everyone showing off so much? I like to start my #Bikram class w/ a relaxing savasana, but I witnessed all kinds of advanced posing by my classmates before we even began pranayama breathing. Maybe I’ve been cooped up in my home studio too long but…..Where they do THAT at? Whatever, far be it from me to criticize someone else’s practice- do your thing, kung fu pandas. Also, why is everyone breathing so damn hard? It sounds like a vacuum cleaner convention in here.
However, I forgot that the best reason to attend live class is teacher interaction- having a teacher give corrections on alignment is SO HELPFUL and totally worth the drop-in rate. I don’t think I’ll be immediately transitioning into daily in-class practice in the near future, but it’s nice to see how the other half lives.
